KintsugiKa commented on They Walk Among Us reddit

In that vein, the same could be said of the Naigaje then: they're biologically predisposed to violence.

None of that changes the fact that, as sentient beings, we are not only able to reason and use critical thinking, but have a responsibility to overcome these biological predispositions.

God's gift of sentience (or Free Will) dictates we each wage a constant internal battle against our own primordial Monkey (or Bird/Lizard) Brains. This responsibility falls on each individual of His Creation, along with the freedom to choose to ignore it.

KintsugiKa commented on They Walk Among Us reddit

Why are so many aliens evil?

I'd just like to add on to what you said in this point:

We can also ask ourselves, "Why are so many humans evil?"

There are both "good" and "evil" people throughout this universe. We just happen to be caught in the crossfire of some not-so-well-intentiones offworlders.

For every high-ranking Consortium official signing off on abductions and experimentation, there are also completely normal ET families throughout the universe just trying to get by and live their lives, or ET-analogs of our own Mother Theresa or MLK.

These creatures are beholden to the same desires and proclivities as we are - be it for good or evil. "As above, so below," after all.

We just happen to exist at a moment in time in which we are getting a front row view to the machinations of Intergalactic Pfizer.

I've never understood the idea that disclosure would be incompatible with any major world religion. The logic just doesn't follow. The existence of sentient life elsewhere in the universe, or even living among us, does not contradict the core tenets of any major world religion. Rather, it complements them.

I also can't comprehend why this would be earth-shattering from a secular point of view. Throughout human history, we've constantly uncovered various truths through exploration and discovery - new environments, new species, new methodologies in medicine, etc. We are always seeking and learning. Aliens are just another thing to "discover" scientifically.

And I can't justify why disclosure would be groundbreaking from a sociological perspective, either. Our own history is rife with corruption and deceit. Time and time again, we have exposed the secret workings of insidious leaders and led revolutions in the name of a better QoL for "the People."

Anyway you look at it, there is absolutely no logical reason for disclosure to cause mass global hysteria and a breakdown of society.

Unless people were led to believe that's what should happen.

Aaaah... how I long for days when standing up for gay rights meant walking a friend home so he didn't get beaten bloody dead in an alleyway just because he likes to suck cock.

Your proposed strategy presumes the ignorant masses have enough remaining brain cells left to think critically and have a bit of sense knocked back into them.

Unfortunately, I fear the mental gymnastics of the "trans rights" movement has won out among two key groups:

  1. The self-purported intelligentsia who truly believe they are on the cutting-edge of progressive inclusivity and equality, and

  2. The apathetic downtrodden just trying to get on with their day.

At the end of the day, the average person just isn't directly threatened enough by the trouble that is brewing. And until people start to feel the direct impacts of this downward spiral, good luck convincing them to course-correct.

Unfortunately, that means shit is going to get really bad before people take a stand... and it's going to be a violent stand.

Until then, my pronouns are "they/them" and I identify concurrently as both an interdimensional multiplicity of light... and a sea sponge. 🫡

If enough people knew about this and willingly donated genetic material and immunity products, we could bankrupt their whole operation. We could create a competing corporation based on donated material that could be sold offworld for far less than what the Consortium charges, I'm sure.

With profits plummeting, the Kayeen couldn't afford to sustain the life extension arm of their little project. At least not to the extent it is now.

I'd love the opportunity to free market them into oblivion.

KintsugiKa commented on First they ridicule, then they intimidate reddit

That's what always got me about this whole thing...

If some random-ass Kayeen came up to me and said "Hey... my species is dying and your genetic material is the only thing that can keep us from being annihilated," I'd go donate my blood once a month in exchange for them buying me a fucking coffee. And I'm not even one of the nice humans!

It's the lying and stealing that pisses me off.

I'm certain what is said here about the Beacon is as accurate as can be. I cannot give you any satisfying answer as to how I am certain.

  1. This isn't my platform to do that,
  2. It isn't in anyone's interest to for me to reveal what has been told to me in confidence, and
  3. I have no desire to go into depth regarding my personal experiences on the matter, let alone in a public venue.

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

Well, I'd rather acknowledge your question than ignore it completely.

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

To me, a "profit motive" implies personal gain. I see no incentive for personal gain here on RD's part. I really don't. He isn't looking for money, power, or prestige.

The only way I can twist this to make him seem profit-motivated would be through his desire to make himself right with God. To strive to do so would, obviously, be advantageous to him. But that is advantageous to everyone... so are we all profit-driven, then?

As for this:

> Also, how can you be so CERTAIN that you know what will happen if the beacon gets answered as prescribed?

I am not at liberty, nor under any obligation, to discuss that here.

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

RD is a bit separated from his own kind, though. I'd wager the majority of the Naigaje here see him as a traitor to their own race. Or a thorn in their side, at the bare minimum. A few see him as an individual fulfilling their own "prophecy" of sorts. To that end, the goal would be to spare the Naigaje from the harshest judgment they could receive for their meddling in human affairs.

Outside of trying to influence the Naigaje toward penitence and the humans toward liberty, I see no "profit motive" in his actions. Can you clarify this with any examples?

Perhaps you're getting thrown off by what you perceive as his distaste for human affairs? He's been pretty open when it comes to calling out the shortcomings of those humans who are sociopathic and nihilistic - but that doesn't suggest a hatred of the human race as a whole.

That is something I can relate to. I'm terribly disappointed with humanity - possibly more so than he is - but I'll be damned if I don't stand behind what is right.

>One of the first things I attempted to get clarity on from RD was the "Laws" (actually they are clearly only rules) that they are bound by. He would not elaborate. Tell me what fair society holds its members to rules that they are not allowed to know or have influence over?

These are their laws. We are not privy to them. We are not held to them. And we have no standing laws regarding interactions with extraterrestrials. Will corrupt members of the Consortium try to justify their actions by being within their own legal terms through loopholes and exceptions? Sure. Will they deceptively pick and choose which of those laws to "hold" us to? Absolutely. But they know damn well they have no grounds, and should the Assembly come, they'd be up a creek. Our own human leaders pull the same kind of shit.

The Beacon would call the representatives of the Assembly here immediately - and their authority and directives stem from God Himself. That is well above the pay grade of both the Consortium and the Calibration Society.

To call the Assembly here would break the shackles that have been placed on us, and bring us up to speed on intergalactic relations. We'd be able to stand on our own as a sentient species, and call the shots for ourselves. Some of humanity will choose to play by the Assembly's rules, and some will not. Either way, it will be our choice. How is that a bad thing?

>"you are in a world of shit, hope you can figure it out or your fucked. You have to kick these bastards out on your own. This warning is all we can do to help, good luck."

This is basically the overarching message of both this sub and r/reptiliandude, though.

Answering the Beacon isn't "handing over the leash." It's removing the whole collar.

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

This would be very awesome.

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

I don't think anyone here disagrees with that. It's on us to unite and be liberated. "Unity" comes in many flavors, though.

That said, there are many who deserve to be held accountable for actively keeping us from achieving that goal.

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

Is it just another Kayeen propaganda piece about the "benevolent aliens" here to "save humanity?" The typical "tall whites good, reptilian bad" story? Those are the claims I approach with a heightened sense of caution.

RD's credibility lies in the no-bullshit exposure of how fucked all these offworlders are... and how, just like with humans, there are a few individuals among every species who are guided by the desire to do what is right.

The talking heads kept up enough plausible deniability throughout this whole thing that they can now easily back-pedal with "Well, we didn't know..." or "That's not what we meant..." or "We were just reporting what we heard/were being told."

And "The Herd" just follows right along. I have family members who seem to forget they accused me of being a conspiracy theorist multiple times... and that every. single. fucking. thing. I told them turned out to be on the money. They've just decided to move on and pretend it all didn't happen.

I'm getting really tired of the lack of transparency, honesty, and accountability that I'm seeing everywhere - from your everyday Average Joe, to our leaders, to our fucking alien "overlords."

I'm gettin' real sick of it... real fast.

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

And, just like humans, they probably fail to realize their own hypocrisy.

I'm of the mindset that their disdain for us is some form of pitiful, projected, self-hatred.

You kind of have to feel bad for them, you know? I mean, can you imagine being alive for centuries (if not millennia) and still behaving like a teenager in a John Hughes film?

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

Also, I'd imagine once a species begins moving outside of its own system, the priorities shift a bit. Our off-world observers must be aware of this. I'm sure if they look at their own histories, they're just as full of warring factions and betrayal. Why would they expect any different from humanity based on our current spot on our own evolutionary timeline?

KintsugiKa commented on It's A One-Way Trip To Earth For Most Aliens Who Come Here reddit

>The aliens who live here are extremely loyal to their own species, no matter the race. If one needed help, they could depend on beings from their empire or kingdom or collective to come to their aid, even if they are individuals unknown to them.

This can't be 100% true. I can't imagine that there isn't at least one off-worlder here that isn't as fed up with their own species as much as some of us our with ours. Or that, say, the Ba'alaket would come to the aid of a lone Janut they considered "treasonous."

KintsugiKa commented on An outbreak of the deadly Marburg virus has been confirmed. Here's what you need to know reddit

Of course. As I said, it is a very serious disease, but it's important to not lead people to thinking that this is an airborne disease they can catch from just being in the same room as someone who has it. The more that people know, the better they can prepare.

It is important to instill a healthy level of concern and mindfulness as opposed to fear and panic. Arming oneself with knowledge and a plan can ensure survival, whereas a scared animal running blind will fall right off the cliff.

KintsugiKa commented on An outbreak of the deadly Marburg virus has been confirmed. Here's what you need to know reddit

I think it's important to note that the 88% fatality rate is for untreated cases. The fatality rate is also estimated to be between 24% and 100%, as the sample sizes of outbreaks are generally too small to give a better CFR.

Also, while there is no specific cure or treatment, supportive care like IV fluids, blood and clotting factor transfusions, and maintaining vitals (like blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, and temperature) can assist in patient recovery odds.

It's also worth mentioning that, as it stands, ebola and the Marburg virus are transmitted through contact with blood and bodily fluids.

This is a serious virus and important information to share, but people need to be armed with as much knowledge as possible in order to take the right protective measures and avoid panicking over the unknowns.

That presupposes there is a nerve to be struck, and I assure you I am not that committed to this conversation.

You still didn't answer my questions. Additionally, what exactly have I backtracked on?

I have made it abundantly clear that on an individual basis, I bear no ill will towards anyone - human or otherwise.

On a broad scale, I'm disillusioned by the behaviors of various species - human or otherwise.

I see no reason to assume humanity as a whole will suddenly grow a collective conscience and decide to act graciously and benevolently should full disclosure occur.

Add the fact that contrition is a prerequisite for absolution, and I don't see anyone forgiving anybody any time soon.

KintsugiKa commented on What To Do With Humans? reddit

No, I did not know what you meant.

I'm not sure I know what you mean in the rest of this comment, either.

Who is appearing before me? Why? What are they asking forgiveness for? Why has this shifted from the general views of entire species to a personal individual encounter? How do you presume to know what causes my butthole to pucker? Why are you thinking about my butthole?

KintsugiKa commented on What To Do With Humans? reddit

Oh, I do reserve my harshest judgment for our "benefactors..." I'll be the first to say that the Kayeen and Ba'alaket, at least, are a disgrace to what their respective monikers represent. I just refuse to allow humanity to get off scot-free in the culpability department.

KintsugiKa commented on What To Do With Humans? reddit

Speaking to every single person on this planet would defeat the purpose of what a "generalization" is...

And said generalization is based on historical evidence that supports the claim that humans are destructive and vengeful.

I've made it very clear that my contempt does not lie with the very few individuals that rise above this cycle. Unfortunately, though, they are not the ones calling the shots - for humanity or otherwise.

KintsugiKa commented on What To Do With Humans? reddit

I separately had it brought to my attention that not all developed societies of sentient species function in this manner, but I have to see that evidenced here by either humanity or its oppressors.

So, until I have evidence of that, it's hard to disagree with your conclusion of "Fuck 'em."

Edit:

Despite that (and after looking into what the fuck "black pilled" meant), I'd still like to formally denounce nihilism.

There are individual sparks of light that shine brightly in the darkness, and every single soul should strive to live a life of truth, justice, charity, and love.

I can't ignore these beacons of hope. I am just keenly aware of the fact that, when observed in general terms, every damn species mentioned in this subreddit deserves its just punishments.

KintsugiKa commented on What To Do With Humans? reddit

But no one has given me a clear answer as to why I should feel any more or less pity for one or the other.

What is the difference between how the Kayeen exploit humanity and how humans exploit their own?

One could say that they've been around a while and should "know better" by now, but I'd argue we should "know better," too.

The fact remains that we are all led by corrupt, egotistical, fucks. Humans, Kayeen, Naigaje, and Ba'alaket alike.

My respect and prayers go out to any individual who realizes this, but I cannot find any space in my heart for one whole species above another.

And, unfortunately, those individuals who have awoken to the truths of the universe are few and far between.

As such, when forced to look at each species in totality, they're all deserving of damnation.

KintsugiKa commented on What To Do With Humans? reddit

What makes them any more worthy of forgiveness than us?

KintsugiKa commented on What To Do With Humans? reddit

Would we be forgiving and benevolent, or murderous and vengeful once the truth of our history comes out?

To answer this, one just has to take a quick look at what humans do to one another.

I want answers. I want truth. I want transparency, and the information made available to me to discern, on my own, who is friend and who is foe.

But I do not, for one second, place any trust in the hope of humanity as a whole to do what is right and just.

Humanity will be angry. Humanity will want to retaliate and seek vengeance. The problem will lie in the same mistake humans always make - they will infallibly direct their ire and contempt in the wrong direction.

We are no different than them, and our evolution into the same monsters they have become is inevitable. In fact, I'd argue it is already complete.

It's the same cycle, over and over, playing out time and time again across this universe.

Unending.

Unerring.

As above, so below.

And I'd be fine if every damn person got shoved off this fucked up merry-go-round.

His actions have cleared a path for good things to happen. This does not mean Musk is good, per se, but that he can be a potential tool for good.

I agree with your refusal to condemn him.

I can condemn Neuralink without completely demonizing the man behind it.

And writing off Musk for some unsavory ideas is the exact same nonsense people try to pull when trying to "cancel" the Founding Fathers for slave ownership.

Life and people are so rarely black and white. Reality is varying shades of gray.

Edit: Musk is also interested in bringing Fauci to justice, so there's that...

KintsugiKa commented on Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. reddit

You cited the Book of Concord's definition of the Pope, though. Nowhere in the Catechism of the Catholic Church does it say that the Pope has "authority also of bestowing and removing kingdoms," nor that the belief in this is "necessary for salvation."

I won't disagree that there have been men who have abused the position they've held as Pope, and left indelible scars on human history. But this applies to men who have not carried this title, as well.

Quantitatively, the RCC has done as much "Evil" as any other powerful institution of Man on this world - but, conversely, no other has matched it in the amount of "Good" it has accomplished.

I don't agree with the RCC on many, many points - but I'll defend Her for the net positive effect She's had on Western Civilization.

But, alas, I'm not really here to debate the finer points of Christian theology on this particular thread. I'll agree to disagree for now.

I'm not here to absolve the Church Magisterium of all wrongdoing, but you have to admit that the promulgation of this idea that Catholics are "Satanists" is a little silly.

Peter felt unworthy of being crucified in the same manner as Christ had been - so his cross was inverted. Ignoring your personal feelings regarding the Church's history, you have to admit this can easily be seen as an act of humility.

And aside from things like the Crusades and how they handled the whole Luther situation, the Church has been and still remains one of the largest forces of Good that this planet has ever seen.

The information presented in this documentary is chilling.

The problem, however, is that the film risks discrediting itself by immediately making connections to the more conspiratorial aspects of the mass rollout of the shots, and completely ignoring the role both reigning political parties played in this situation. It makes the film easy to brush off as "right wing conspiracy garbage," which is unfortunate.

For people on the fence, that angle is going to lose them. Quickly.

Had they begun with a strictly data- and evidence-based approach, it would have better served to sway the fencesitters. Linking the shot rollout to a grander scheme could have been accomplished in a subsequent film release.

A Midwestern Doctor does a great breakdown of this on their substack, which can be found here. They go into why these amyloid fibrin clots (which are a result of the spike protein) are more liable to form in those who have received the shots vs. those who have just had Covid-19.

KintsugiKa commented on To the Aliens on the Fence reddit

You're talking about a lot of extraterrestrials that don't necessarily care about "forgiveness."

The person I responded to offered only a feel-good plea of "Please be nice and play fair with us, you mean ol' aliens!" Do they think the Consortium, or individuals of Consortium species are just going to read that, throw their hands up, and say "Gosh darn it! You're RIGHT! We're so sorry for this little mix-up!"

No.

They're asking people to stand up against their own, and not really offering a compelling incentive to do so.

KintsugiKa commented on To the Aliens on the Fence reddit

Let me play devil's advocate here for a moment...

You're pleading for Ba'alaket and Naigaje support, but what's in it for them?

KintsugiKa commented on To the Aliens on the Fence reddit

I'd like to offer a bit of a different perspective for those extraterrestrials on the fence and leaning toward the "Fuck these stupid monkeys" side of the argument.

To the non-humans reading this:

I am a human. I do not like humans.

I am not filled with any sense of camaraderie toward my fellow Man, and I feel no deeper a sense of love toward Humanity than I do for any of the other myriad creatures on this planet (or beyond it).

I have no compulsion to "stand with humanity."

I do not "weep for the children."

My experiences with the people I've met throughout my life have led me to believe that the vast majority of humans are merely trying to survive. These are the masses who, when backed into a corner, will react on an animalistic instinct of self-preservation. When faced with a threat, the primitive brain will momentarily take over, and give way to violence and mob mentality.

But one thing I can do, despite my reservations about the human race, is objectively appreciate the special moments of ingenuity, temerity, blind optimism, and an underdog nature of a species. It is hard to deny how many times Humanity has come face-to-face with disaster and near total annihilation, only to pull through by the seat of their collective pants.

These moments are led by the brave and the wise minority. Those special few who have found themselves in this minority are able to sift through their instincts of "panic," "run," "fight," or "kill," and find themselves able to react with the reason and poise necessary to assuage the fears of the masses and inspire them to act righteously.

There is also another minority at play, acting as a foil to the aforementioned one. These are sociopaths bent on the exploitation of the "stupid sheeple," and they are unfortunately professionals at the manipulation of the pure-intentioned.

So, all I can do is judge the actions of the individuals I have encountered throughout my life. Has this person acted with compassion? - or malice? Have they been fair? - or unjust? Do they speak truth? - or do they decieve? Do they lead by example? - or are they hypocrites?

That said, how can I look at a single sentient species and cast a sweeping judgment of "good" or "evil" on them as a whole - human or otherwise? I see a majority just trying to get by, with an "awoken" minority duking it out for control in the eternal battle of "good vs. evil."

When I say I am filled with no desire to stand in solidarity with the human race, know that this sentiment extends beyond my own kind.

Look in a mirror, and then try to convince me you are any different than us. Tell me every Ba'alaket knows exactly what is going on here, instead of trusting a few talking heads at the top telling them everything is above board. Tell me every Naigaje is totally aware of the situation, rather than just allowing their intergalactic dignitaries to "handle that shit." (I'd ask what the Kayeen may think, but I don't think they're allowed to do that.)

So, that leaves me - and you - with two options:

  1. We aren't that different than you. We've got our leaders lying to us, hiding things from us, and exploiting us for their own personal gain. If this is true, humanity deserves an equal voice.

Or:

  1. We are different from you. This would mean every single member of every Consortium species knows what's going on here, and is absolutely a-o-fucking-k with it. If this is true, it is arguable that, despite its aforementioned flaws, Humanity is the more noble species, and it is you who does not deserve a voice.

One doesn't have to stand in solidarity with an entire species just to know what the right and ethical thing to do is, and it is up to every single individual in this universe to choose whether or not they will follow the path of "Good" or "Evil" - and it's pretty damned easy to see which option is which here.

Not Western citizens.

Elites.

This is a man who understands exactly what the fuck is going on.

And before anyone gets their panties in a bunch and cries "Treason!" at my words:

I believe in the values on which the United States was founded.

I believe in freedom of speech.

I believe in individual liberty.

I believe in our God-given rights to pursue happiness and prosperity.

But that is not the America of today.

I am under no illusion that those who we have allowed to come to power have not been systematically eroding our freedoms to create dependent, complacent, chattle.

I don't have to "support" Putin to recognize the truth in his words: The powers of the Western world have created a rapacious oligarchy hell-bent on a disenfranchised and subservient citizenry.

And I'd imagine this is exactly how the Consortium wants things.

It's much easier to get a few dogs to control the herd than to try and round up the cows yourself. And this is all Western leaders are - herding dogs nipping at our ankles, keeping us in line, just to get a conciliatory pat on the head and be told what a "good boy" they are.

They just haven't yet realized the rancher will be quick to put a bullet in their heads when they've outlasted their usefulness.

I'm arguing about how they should be dealt with legally. So, I don't know why you keep throwing your own justifications for the practice in my direction.

But yes, the taking of a life is our business.

It is not the federal government's business to do anything outside of the powers granted to it by the Constitution.

One thing very obviously absent from Constitutional purview is when it's ok to kill a human. This is why every state has its own laws regarding corporal punishment. Abortion is no different.

The justification for taking a life is nuanced and personal. This country is full of very different geographic regions and very different people, all with their own very different thoughts and feelings. This is why the Founding Fathers tossed power to the states. What works in NY doesn't necessarily work in TX. And neither of those states should have to bend to the will of the other.

If the majority of citizens in a state believe that the termination of a fetal life is abhorrent and never justifiable, they should be able to legislate accordingly. And, conversely, if the majority of citizens in a state believe that the termination of a fetal life is justifiable in some cases, they should be able to legislate accordingly.

And this applies to innumerable issues that are not outlined in the Constitution.

The beautiful thing is that the Constitution guarantees free and open trade and travel between states. No one is losing access to abortions.

I've been successfully avoiding this topic since the news about Roe v. Wade dropped... and you just had to go and get me all riled up, didn't you?

I am so sick and tired of all the koala-brained excuses for humans parading around the internet parroting stupid catchphrases, while refusing to look at the reality of any given situation. And this issue has really driven home for me how utterly hypocritical and incapable of critical thinking most people are.

Even in this very thread, there a people blindly declaring "I'm pro-life!" or "I'm pro-choice!" with some pitiful semblance of a regurgitated explanation they got from some talking head who told them to think that way.

Life begins at conception. Period. If you can't see how this is even biologically true, may I suggest removing your head from your rectum and perusing a Bio 101 textbook.

The Left has clung on to its desperate obfuscation of this fact for decades now, despite being the "side" that claims a supposed monopoly on science, education, and "reason." Even the period of "fetal viability" referenced in Roe v. Wade is not applicable today. What happens to those "educated liberals" when the science tells them something they don't want to hear? They thrust their fingers in their ears and screech, "Nyah nyah nyah! I'm not listening! MY BODY, MY CHOICE! GIMME!"

That said, if you can see no justification for the elimination of a life, you've been equally duped. The same Right Wingers standing outside abortion clinics with signs of mutilated fetuses shouting "MURDERER!" at every girl that walks in are the same folk who'll fight tooth and nail to get Castle Doctrine laws passed in their state.

If you believe that you have the right and responsibility to shoot and kill a man who is breaking into your home in order to protect the safety, security, and well-being of your family, how could you not apply that very logic to something that is, essentially, a parasite growing in another human being?

If I can reasonably demonstrate that this child came into being through unwanted means, and/or a continuation of its life would cause an undue hardship that would result in a severely stunted quality of life for that child, how is it not merciful and just to abort?

If you cannot see how the overturning of a shitty ruling that was shakily propped up on the 14th Amendment is a gigantic win for everybody, it's time for you to reexamine what you thought you knew. And if you are pleased with the SCOTUS decision, I implore you to do the same - because chances are you're happy for the wrong reasons.

I'd personally defer to Love when it isn't clear if Truth is the right path in a specific situation.

I'm past a stage in my life where I enjoy philosophical rabbit holes, though. I like to boil life down to acting with common sense, general honesty, and the rule "Don't be a dick." We were gifted a conscience, and I don't have much patience for people claiming ignorance of what's obviously right or wrong.

KintsugiKa commented on Thoughts? reddit

Excellent! I care about honesty as well. If you are so inclined, may I ask why you care about honesty and how you care to define it?

It's kind of an interesting word. Honesty necessitates sincerity, yet connotates that one is being truthful to some degree.

I'm pretty satisfied with how Merriam-Webster has defined it:

hon·es·ty | \ ˈä-nə-stē

  1. a: adherence to the facts : SINCERITY
b: fairness and straightforwardness of conduct
  2. any of a genus (Lunaria) of European herbs of the mustard family with toothed leaves and flat disk-shaped siliques

I have a hard time thinking of any situation in which the first definition wouldn't result in the most favorable outcome, and I am also a huge fan of brassicas, the color purple, and ornamental seed pods.

I would agree that truthfulness precedes honesty, and have always held "Truth" in high regard. It's up there with "Love" for me, and firmly believe that the pursuit of both will bring any individual or community closer to harmony and God.

Throughout human history, the pursuit of knowledge has uncovered some of life's greatest mysteries. In contrast, lies and deception have only served to inhibit growth. Therefore, I will always resolutely stand on the side of Truth, honesty, integrity, and sincerity.

That said, there is a difference between "Oh, damn, yeah... those jeans do make your ass look huge!" and "Yeah, those jeans are ok, but I think another pair would look better." The application of honesty can (and sometimes should) be tweaked without sacrificing the integrity of a statement.

To what degree do you think one is capable of being honest with oneself?

In this life, I don't think we ever can be completely honest with ourselves.

Self-awareness is an incredibly hard skill to develop. It takes a practiced ability to look at oneself from outside of oneself. This is easier said than done, as we are inherently designed for self-interest and self-preservation. The human brain doesn't want to allow itself to believe it could ever possibly have lied to itself.

A sense of self-awareness is also cultivated through an understanding of how other people react to you. If one person calls you a cantankerous, smelly, old bitch, so be it. But if there's a trend of such an accusation, you're probably a cantankerous, smelly, old bitch.

Only through being able to look at ourselves after stripping ourselves of Ego, and analyzing how the world has interacted with our presence, can we get anywhere close to being as self-aware as we're gonna get in these short lives.

It ain't easy work, but it's honest work. ;)

Honesty.

Now that's something I care about.

What argument, though? The argument that Metallica sucks? I wasn't arguing that. Like I said, I don't really care to argue it because 1. As stated previously - and I can't stress this enough - it matters so little to me; and 2. It's an opinion regarding personal preference. I know, deep in my heart, that New Wave is nothing but over-produced, talentless, drivel... but it will never change the fact that it warms my heart when I hear a Tears for Fears song. The emotional component of a person's tastes just cannot be argued against, no matter how sound the reasoning may be.

That very "emotional component" is how the Left has "katamari damacy-ed" its screeching fan club over the past few decades, and a its a tactic the Right has now begun to employ as well.

Also... I never claimed to be intelligent.

I know what the purpose of argumentation is, but I'm not trying to argue or persuade you that Metallica sucks. I made a simple, declarative, statement with nothing to back up my opinion because that's exactly how much care about the topic.

I'm not going to dignify you with a well thought-out persuasive essay on the issue to appease your "master teaches the student" fantasy, because my feelings on the matter are worth exactly the two whole words I already gave it.

Metallica is generic and over-produced. The whole genre is a shitty bastardization of the great music it stemmed from. At the risk of sounding like an old fart, there is no art to their music - just noise.

But... that's just opinion, and I'll likely never change your mind.

And no, I'm absolutely not saying Metallica sucks more than reddit. One, they're not comparable media. Two, reddit (and social media in general) is a festering cesspit of the detritus that the human ego spews out at its fellow Man when it thinks it's protected by anonymity.

10,000 years from now when they open my sarcophagus and put me in a museum, they will surely label the exhibit as "Mummified human remains (gender unassumed), 2069 CE, Amarna". /s

Well, it's also a way to weed out bots and find out who's actually thinking versus who is just parroting something they heard or read.

Weeding out, apparently, members who have been posting here for years now.

I'm fucking tired of people blaming Trump. It's so fucking lazy and counter-productive to thought, taunting and mocking is all I have the patience for anymore.

Why can't we blame Trump for anything? To not be able to look at a leader in an unbiased fashion is extremely partisan, which is the point I believe Luce was trying to make.

Like, if I'm engaging with someone about what's wrong with the state of politics or the world, I don't want to start the conversation with Trump and pretend if we could only get rid of this one guy, things would be so much better.

You were the one who brought up Trump in the first place...

I'm on mobile, and can't be assed to reference the whole exchange, but I don't recall Luce blaming Trump for anything more than what he legitimately feels Trump is guilty of. He didn't pin all the world's problems on the man, and explicitly stated equal disdain for America's politicians.

Replace your initial "Trump" with "Pelosi." Has the possibility crossed your mind he would have responded the same way? Or have you made assumptions?

It's like taking your 11 year old little sister to a Metallica concert and they start trying to lecture you that the song "One" is really about what the world would be like if Trump was in power.

Metallica sucks.

How else can I respond?

I don't click on links from strangers on the internet.

Ah, yes. Taunting: my favorite method to use on my students. Works like a charm.
