Since everyone here has a vested interest in the website, I want to ensure that you're all aware of what we’re trying to build. This is a lengthy post, but I ask that each of you please take the time to read it and think about what I am asking of you. We need your help. And while I don’t anticipate that many will step forward, I absolutely hope that everyone does, and that we are able to move together as one
The overarching purpose of the website is to preserve and study the audit. It is not to shape public opinion about the audit, nor anything u/reptiliandude or u/garbotalk or any of us have said. For that reason, the website will not focus on articles or topics (think Wikipedia), but instead strive for a faithful reproduction of primary sources and an open discussion of their contents. While I believe there is still room on the site for topical articles as they relate to the sub - such as a recap of what we know about the Devorah, or RD’s collected musings on humanity’s toilet habits – the site will largely focus on serving up 3 years of an alien’s words and our reaction to them, bereft of summary or explication
Put another way: we want people to connect with RD and his words, not our words about it
Because at some point, people will learn that an alien has spoken with humanity through another wall of reeds, and they’re going to get very curious. They’re going to come looking for what he said and even the people that he spoke to. RD has tried to prepare us for this. Many will come upon the information honestly and with an open mind. But nevertheless we will attract professional skeptics, shills and people that want to turn this into a religion. We already face accusers who call us a cult. And so if we must appear as anything to them, let it first be as the humble steward of RD’s words, and not the loud scholar nor the dogmatic priest - for those are the adversaries that our enemies seek
So our job, in short, is to prepare a place for the world to consume this information. And we are looking for more volunteers to help with this effort, because there is a lot of shit to do
I have led this sort of project before in a professional capacity. I’ve driven the requirements, built the archive, managed the work. But I can’t code to save my life, and we need coders and database people to help with the back end. Specifically, I’m looking for people that understand database design and web development. And if you’re not an expert that’s fine – we’re all going to learn as we go. The foundational experience in coding and/or technical architecture is enough for now, until we know what we’re working with
So one, two, maybe three of you might be able to raise your hand and say, “I can help with technical stuff!” Most of you can’t, however, but don’t worry: there’s a lot more shit to do
You know what sucks about trying to find something RD said more than a month ago? You can’t, that’s what sucks. Not without expending precious calories. You might have an idea about the content, or a keyword that you can plug into Google that will return 10 posts where RD said (somewhere) the word you think he used, or perhaps nothing at all
I want to be able to find one of u/garbotalk’s excellent summaries with the click of a few buttons. I want to be able to compare what RD has said about particle entanglement with ease. I want to know how many times u/ACuriousHumanBeing has referenced Pokemon
But I can’t
Reddit’s lack of search functionality makes it very difficult to thoroughly study patterns, or correlate disparate data. So we’re going to make an archive of the sub, structured and tagged in such a way that we can pull up individual comments by topic, date, author, and so on. The same archiving capability can also dynamically replicate the original order of posts and comments on the sub, so that users can experience the audit as many of us have already, as a gradual unfolding of revelatory information
So perhaps you’re not technical, but can you read and write? Because we need people to help with the archiving effort. u/lelekfalo and u/xxonceuponadreamxx have already agreed to spearhead that work, and they’re both quite suited to it. But we need more people to help them, because there’s a lot to read and categorize. Every post and every comment, and lots of images, videos and articles to link to as well
In addition to the archive of the audit, the site will also provide forums or some other collaborative capability where people can comment on posts, formulate theorem, and otherwise engage in the material in the same sort of Socratic fashion that RD and Garbotalk started here on Reddit. And while we might now lack an Apkallu, we are nevertheless the global experts on the audit. Our presence will be required to help guide people towards a common understanding, without the authority of a degree or the certainty of dogma
But how that is accomplished is up to the design team, who are responsible for how information on the site will be accessed and presented. They will build the navigation pathways and page layouts, evaluate package solutions like forum modules to incorporate into the site, and structure rules around acceptable content and administration. But this is not a technical role. The only knowledge required is familiarity with web pages, and everyone reading this has that. Some knowledge of PowerPoint will be helpful, and prior web design experience would be excellent, though not required. u/Fieldlilly is going to drive that effort, and u/PoeDameronski has already volunteered to help
As an aside, we already have a sizable plot of virtual real estate where we can build the site, courtesy of Fieldlilly. But she doesn’t want your thanks – she wants your help
We all do
I can commit something on the order of 10 hours a week to this effort. That’s perhaps enough to keep us moving along, but it’s hardly sufficient to effectively manage a project of this scope. So u/ACuriousHumanBeing is going to help me keep the work flowing. Our goal is to structure the project so that everyone can contribute, but not overwhelm the process with documentation and decisions. Each team will operate with some independence, so that we can move things along without bogging the process down with “consensus building.” Thus if you want a say in how this will look, you need to chip in, whether it's 10 hours a week or just one. Whatever you can give, we'll take it
So that’s what we need: developers, archivers, designers. It will take a village to get this done properly, but we happen to have one right here, and there’s a job for everyone
Nevertheless I’ve sat on this post for about a week, mulling over whether I wanted to recruit for this effort so openly on this semi-public forum. I know many of you, but most not so terribly well. And likewise you know very little about me, save for what I’ve said on the sub, or because of my sometimes contentious public relationship with it’s namesake
But then I realized: that doesn’t matter. Like me, you found the sub. And like me, when you were greeted at its gates by a man with a bird head, you didn’t ask him to remove his costume, nor did you turn away
God and his “bees” led you to r/reptiliandude, but you stayed of your own accord
The end of the audit is not the end of the story. It is the closing of a prologue to a much grander tale. In that same way, the website is the first step towards a far more significant objective: the building of the beacon, and the delivery of humanity from the clutches of those demons that would call her “product”
If we are ardent in our faith, and focused on our mission, we can help point humanity towards that goal, and pave the way for the coming of the One
That path begins with a website containing secret knowledge, available for all to read and study
And it ends with Schrodinger's cat safely out of the bag 😉
