Defeating Goliath (i.redd.it)

I think we all know the basic problem: the Kayeen and their mercenaries have shielding that prevents passage of metal, thus rendering them impervious to conventional (metallic) small arms fire. And we know that ceramics pass through this shielding, and that ceramic ammunition can be purchased online
But I know little about arms and ammunition, and want to ensure that I'm properly prepared. I'm looking for advice on everything from what kind of guns to buy to small unit tactics to everything in between - if you have knowledge or experience that would benefit someone in a war zone, I'm all ears
So please, drop some wisdom on this fool. Ideally I'd like to come out of this with a checklist that everyone could use. I know u/explorer1357, u/Fieldlilly, u/PoeDameronski (and I'm sure many others) have some insight here

GUNS:
Rifles:
AR15 (duh).....in 5.56/.223
AR10/precision bolt action/AK47 in 7.62/.308
Pistol/sidearms:
9mm (Canik are affordable, Glocks are tried and true, Sig Sauer make some nice ones)
Pistol AR15 (make sure you use a brace and not a stock else ATF is gonna send u to prison)
Shotguns:
They dont look cool. So dont buy any shotguns.
SMALL TEAM TACTICS:
Basically study small fireteam tactics of units already in service such as Navy Seals, MARSOC, Rangers...
Most operate relying heavily on element of surprise, rushing, studying the enemy, quick execution and extraction. If they get caught in a sustained fire fight things can turn ugly. Unless you have numbers and resources to match the enemy its not worth it.
They usually retreat into cover, one guy providing cover while other runs... Then the runner drops and covers the other guy... And again and again until either they successfully retreat or, just... Run out of bullets.

Let's talk about ammo...
Why would I choose 7.62 over .308, or vice versa?
Ditto .556 vs .223
And what kind of ceramic rounds should I buy?
What about regular ammo? Hollow-point, armor-piercing, etc?
[–] explorer1357 1 points 2019-07-04
One thing to note about regular ammunition is that it's not completely useless as we might think.
Remember Achilles Heel. The shields don't extend all the way down to their feet.
If you're using regular ball ammo just get into a good shooting position and aim at the feet.
5.56/.223 and 7.62/.308 are interchangeable. The first number is in NATO (mm) and the other is in inches.
When you buy an AR15 make sure you get a barrel that is rated to 5.56 so you can shoot both. 223 and 5.56. A .223 barrel/chamber isn't rated to the hotter powder charge pressures of a 5.56 NATO.
7.62/.308 are great for higher stopping power and range (when used in a precision rifle) over 5.56.
The drawback however... Is that when you're actually CARRYING all that ammo around, 7.62/.308 becomes considerably heavier and either you'll have to suck it up or carry less ammunition compared to someone carrying 5.56
Of course there are other calibers out there (. 224 Valkrie, 6.5 Creedmoor, . 300 blackout... Etc...) but for our scenario I would just stick to the common rounds unless you plan on building up a good stash of a specific caliber.

Shotguns are severely underestimated when it comes to damage. I'll take a shotgun over most any gun out there, its spread shot and essentially fires multiple projectiles at once.
Lol I was out in the wild with a friend and I kid u not he was super shocked when I tracked a bird in the sky and shot it down with my AR15.
Shotguns are for people who cant aim 😂😂😂

Did we get anything about the nature of this shielding? Like what forces it uses? Perhaps it could be shorted out or overloaded in some way?
[–] LucePrima 1 points 2019-07-05
According to u/Garbotalk in this post
The Kayeen have shielding that causes anything metal to explode when it crosses their defenses. This rendered bullets, swords, and any mettalic weapons of the Naigaje useless
In terms of it's mode of action, I know RD has said a bit more but it'll require more digging. Perhaps Garbo knows something
Regarding our ability to 'short circuit' their tech... I certainly hope so. But I think we would need a better understanding of allah protons that tie this universe to others. Based on what limited knowledge we have of their tech, from Lazar and others, it certainly doesn't operate like anything in this universe, despite our attemtpts to make it conform to known paradigms
I was thinking if we could overload it somehow, the "reactor" it uses might blow its owner up for us. But it's probably too foreign at this point to really think up a good way to do that.

You can buy ceramic bullets on Alibaba, I believe. The better choice is to learn to make them. Rocks to the head worked for David.
Anything natural (God made) like stone (axes), stick (arrows), or dried clay (ceramics), string, vine, etc. can cross these personal barriers.
All Consortium aliens have this tech, including Naigaje. BUT the tech has limits. It does not go all the way to the ground. It only goes down to the ankles. That's how Achillies was taken down. Low shots of anything WILL cross below the barrier. A rolled grenade would work too.
I think tripping them with low vines or strings, then shooting them after they fall would be effective.
Remember how the ewoks fought the clones with low tech? Rolled logs, swinging warriors on vines, using forests to hide? That's what we need to do.

Achillies
That dude was a psychopath.
[–] velezaraptor 7 points 2019-07-03
This is just a quick starting point to elaborate from.
I make my own bullets. A simple solution would be to have porcelain-tipped rifle loads and small bits as buckshot for shotgun loads. I remember researching this, I believe there is someone who has a simple process to work with porcelain online. Hardwoods are another thought but do we know how strong these buzzards are?
[–] ACuriousHumanBeing 2 points 2019-07-03
Something to help would be to add in some poisons. Some of the stronger ones can shut down body functions and immobilize the strongest opponents.
Might go against the Geneva Conventions, but any poison effective against us should be effective against them to.
Something like the Punji sticks the Vietnamese used to stop the invading Americans. All manner from animal poisons to human feces were used.
[–] velezaraptor 1 points 2019-07-03
I would think the odds would be against any feeble attempt to thwart their slaying of us after what I would assume to be a cataclysm on Earth for those fortunate to survive the initial devastation. It makes more sense to infiltrate from the inside through drop-tech but my guess is their “lizard brain” can hibernate and come alive in a frenzy fraught with the moral objective to rule us in a less “Terence McKenna” fashion, a more compliant “reset mindset” demographic to easily control us with fewer numbers through the primal instinct to hunt and kill us like dogs.
If it is systematic, a selection based on assessment, like the slaves who helped with the pyramids, those qualified to even be useful slaves would probably be spared.
Our freedom can be won, we have the formulas and the idea of how, what, and where, but do we have the wherewithal to assert the goal into reality?
Poisons are always a tried and true tactic, but we have to have knowledge of their biology and what is known to them as their own precautions might prevent our efforts.

Pity those men violated Eve's knowledge of the medicinal.
Making your own bullets sounds like a valuable skill to have at the end of the world. How'd you learn? How long does it take? Any good guides?
[–] velezaraptor 2 points 2019-07-03
There's some easy ways to do it if you're in to guns. I'd only recommend guns and their parts with someone who doesn't fuck around and can be methodical because it's your life you're messing with.
Here's a guy already using an advanced shotgun shell re-loader:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGd57nJEpl0
Rifle or handgun loads require a different system:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zSG804HwVk
The porcelain would require some ingenuity to integrate the two normal processes for different types of shells.
[–] garbotalk 1 points 2019-07-07
It also is an excellent tradable commodity.
[–] LucePrima 1 points 2019-07-08
Excellent point

Punny.
[–] [deleted] 2 points 2019-07-04
[–] fieldlilly 1 points 2019-07-05
They do. That is why they were banned from the Geneva Convention. They are both deadly and undetectable by x-ray.
[–] [deleted] 2 points 2019-07-05
Yo so... Is this like... The weapons and tactics thread?
[–] LucePrima 2 points 2019-07-03
You got it
[–] [deleted] 3 points 2019-07-03
[–] explorer1357 1 points 2019-07-03
Wow ive never thought of glass
[–] fieldlilly 3 points 2019-07-03
This is not 100% accurate. Many of the overwritten humans will have access to the same tech which repels metal. You won’t know if someone has the tech (it is not visible to the naked eye) until it is likely too late. So don’t throw away the ammunition you already have... or stop buying it, but be sure to diversify... kind of like a good financial portfolio.
[–] PoeDameronski 1 points 2019-07-03
You won’t know if someone has the tech (it is not visible to the naked eye) until it is likely too late.
How are we able to quickly gauge who is overwritten or not?
Well... I'd like to think if they're tryna kill us, then they're pretty much hostile.
There's 2 different ways it can play out though.
The first... Either Kayeen overwrite them and have them outfitted with the killer aggression hormones and then unleash a mob of crazed angry zombies at us like they did with Naigaje..
Or...
They overwrite them and equip them with high tech Kayeen military gear and fight as an organized force.
Either one is gonna suck.
Hopefully by then Assembly forces will have deployed and we wont be left fighting that shit alone 🤣🤣🤣

Anyone got any ideas on arrowheads to peirce their shields? Those pocket slings with arrow mods look deadly af. Ceramic? Glass? How could I make them. where to buy them?

Whoa that looks exactly like what RD was talking about with the shields thing
[–] PoeDameronski 1 points 2019-07-12
We are like game of thrones characters finding dragon glass to defeat the white walkers.
Crazy.
