So... We need to go to the beach and take pictures of seaweed, or just update the wiki page?

Im thinking for the big seaweed catalogue we can just make like a free E-book or something that people can download.

[–] ACuriousHumanBeing 2 points

Sounds good. An index of sorts. Kinda like a pokedex I guess.

[–] explorer1357 1 points

Lol yeah

[–] ACuriousHumanBeing 8 points

Some seaweeds for ya'll. (Google and wikipedia are your friends)

Dulse/Palmaria palmata

Nori Another link

Hijiki

Wakame

Sea Lettuce

Irish Moss

Gracilaria

Bladderwack

Ulva

Oh, and Kombu

Not an exuastive list by any means, but a good start and one I hope others build on. Preferably an index of a seaweed, places it can be found, and ways it can be prepared would be ideal, and work towards a knowledge based currency.

I suggest this site for those who want to eat 'weeds' in general. There is some great stuff out there.

Does anyone have a wiki account??

I found a few pictures of the desmateria stuff and was gonna upload it but im blocked from editing.

[–] DankNethers 2 points

I just created one, but won't be able to upload images for four days

So hit me up in 96hrs if this hasn't been addressed by then

[–] explorer1357 2 points

Alright man cool

[–] explorer1357 2 points

Hey so were you able to get the pictures uploaded?

[–] DankNethers 1 points

u/exicleus is taking the lead on this

He needs images that comply to Wikipedia's guidelines:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Image_use_policy

If you've come across some images that can be uploaded, or have created your own images, please let him know

[–] exicleus 2 points

I've updated D. Viridis and have a handful more images on the off side with the other variants.

How this will work is a little tedious but it can be done.

It seems in order to make a page (turn red link into blue) we have to create a draft and have it mostly filled out first. Then we have to submit this draft for review by a wiki admin. Once approved they will push the draft to main view so everyone can see it. We have to do this process for each and every red link.

This means we have to have references for each red link and all the correct information. Basically carbon copies of the Viridis example.

As for images they have to also follow these rules as well if working with commons uploader: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Licensing

I posted some images that were CC-BY-NC and was ignorant of the rules. The great wiki admins flagged the CC violating images and moved them for speedy deletion. Mistake learned and now corrected.

RD mentioned that if we cannot post Copy Protected images then we can essentially be 'inspired' to draw them as our own work. This way they can be shared with everyone.

Edit: Good news. I got a confirmed account. I can create and publish live pages. As soon as I do this though the page needs to be updated with information / references, not just photos, or they will get deleted within about a week. The page is granted construction status so that any user should be able to come in and help build it. I created the Desmarestia ligulata page and working on this one right now. I have the most public domain hand-photos of this one so it should be more visually informative. It also seems to be one of the most common types of this species.

[–] exicleus 2 points

I see bright energy in these plants.

I will collect more information.

I can also code if needed for cataloging.

[–] garbotalk 1 points

Proving that we are not a threat to space farers with our many diseases deposited elsewhere will give us more longevity.

When SHTF, we need to look to more gatherable sources for food.

Deep oceans are where many aliens reside. It might be good to figure out where. Use of poisonous sea life against enemies may be necessary. If it's not on wiki already, the Kayeen may be hiding this from general knowledge.

[–] reptiliandude Reptilian 5 points

I’m not trying to teach you how to poison.
But rather, how to avoid poisoning yourselves.
Lots of naturally occurring sulfuric acid in those poisonous kelp I mentioned.
Enough to stain clothes, actually.
Sulfuric acid is also the same stuff used in car batteries.
And, if you mix it with zinc...

Tosses ‘stone’ into water.
Waxes ‘philosophical...’

“It’s alive!”

[–] suddenlysnowedinn 1 points

Hydrogen to power vehicles? Not quite sure where you're going with this.

[–] reptiliandude Reptilian 1 points

Not really ‘going’ anywhere.
Just trying to keep things light.

[–] suddenlysnowedinn 1 points

Any math whizzes here? How much seaweed must be cultivated in order for us to convert our entire national electricity production to Hydrogen?

[–] reptiliandude Reptilian 1 points

Not the point, but creative nonetheless.

[–] suddenlysnowedinn 1 points

I'm not much for botany, so I don't know much beyond what a basic Biology class would teach, but I can't imagine that it takes seaweed long to reach maturity. If it could be grown in sufficient volume, I don't see why this wouldn't be a possibility.

Also, the United States is the fourth largest mining source of zinc. This is sounding more and more feasible.

[–] exicleus 2 points

It's condensed energy and has multiple uses. Including food. Easier to transport than fruit or regular food due to space/mass ratio versus output.

Can also be liquefied and re-purposed.

[–] garbotalk 1 points

Somehow every time you talk about hydrogen, I think it's about the beacon.

However, if a zinc reaction produces light, that is helpful too.

[–] reptiliandude Reptilian 5 points

Hydrogen is also light-er than air.

[–] Firstladytree 2 points

By ‘light-er’ you mean ‘brighter’ not ‘weighing less’ .. correct?

[–] explorer1357 1 points

He said keep things light.

I assume that refers to the weight meaning of light, not the illumination meaning, else he prolly woulda said keep things illuminated??

But then it just confuses me further... What could we possibly do with all this hydrogen, we already use safer helium for air travel.

Unless he means it in a survival sense. A way to keep the lights on when the sun goes down? As in a scenario where an EMP hits us and electronics and everything we normally depend on fry out.

[–] Firstladytree 1 points

Don’t we need some kinda bike when the cars stop working

[–] explorer1357 1 points

Yeah i havent checked up on fieldlilly inna while...

But, if youre referring to what RD said, then he also said we're not 'going' anywhere.

[–] explorer1357 1 points

Philosophical stone - sulfer and zinc into hydrogen

Light - hydrogen

Clue = hydrogen as gas or something related to fusion???

[–] exicleus 1 points

[–] explorer1357 1 points

LMAO how did we go from seaweed to ancient chants

[–] exicleus 1 points

They are all deeply connected.

Notes, colors, compounds, elements, body, blood, fractals.

Waters of life.

Energy.

[–] explorer1357 1 points

By notes you mean music?

Speaking of music ive been trying to come up with another track/beat but nothing ive made has satisfied me enough to develop it... Imma try again tonight see if something sticks.

[–] explorer1357 1 points

[–] PrinceWizdom 3 points

Guys he is saying that it can be used as a potential source of light. Fire is fundamentally important to man and this can be a valuable resource

[–] garbotalk 1 points

You're talking about air ships? Like the Ba'alaket use? Hydrogen that is lighter than air could raise a city to dwell in the clouds. That would be an amazing thing, much less dangerous than helium.

[–] exicleus 1 points

[–] explorer1357 3 points

Less dangerous than helium??

Garbo you do realize the Lindberg or whatever that giant Nazi airship was called that burst into a fireball from a little spark was filled with hydrogen right???

Helium is the safer stuff they put in children balloons for birthday parties...

Just saying.

[–] suddenlysnowedinn 2 points

Are you trying to teach us how to improve our 'reception?'

[–] Firstladytree 1 points

Biophotons?

[–] Firstladytree 2 points

What about that bike he said we need to make ..

[–] DankNethers 2 points

Fun fact

Garlic (as well as other members of the allium family) contains high levels of organosulfurs and zinc

Of course, u/exicleus is aware of this

[–] Firstladytree 1 points

Are we talking about viewing life on other worlds here?

Will the seaweed aid us in doing this?

[–] reptiliandude Reptilian 3 points

[–] Firstladytree 4 points

Something RD said about viewing life on other worlds ..

Reptiliandude: Explaining crop circles outside the realm of pranks is an exercise in credulity. But they DO exist. The reasons for this are because of the multiplicity of the genes in grasses. Your species has only skimmed the surface of what genes do, and you have many duplicitous men in industries promoting many things that they do not do to aquire finding and to drive up shareholder value. Genes respond to patterns in their subatomic structures. The particles in these patterns cause changes in other particles on other worlds. What you humans consider to be junk DNA is actually ( in part ) the result of those plants storing information about contagions for future reference. These patterns link to other like species instantaneously across light years of space time. What you are seeing embodied in these plants is a unification of information on a subatomic scale extending into the organism that is this universe. (Legitimate) crop circles are an attempt to use those particles to send messages across space-time. Why you humans haven't considered this is because you are not thinking in terms of particle communication but rather the electromagnetic spectrum. Particle entanglement is not bound to general relativity. So you can communicate across many light years of space time through life forms that have an abundance of genes. This is another reason I have emphasized looking into your own oceans. There is a creature there whose eyes will enable you to "see" through the eyes of other similar creatures on worlds far removed from your own. It is not space travel that will bring out this knowledge. It is physics and biology. Answer the beacon. It has shouted at you the easiest clue for your initial success in these endeavors.

[–] explorer1357 1 points

So... If we make a crop circle using actual words... Itll appear somewhere in another field on some other planet??

Like a interPLANTary texting platform???

[–] Firstladytree 3 points

I don’t think so lol

[–] Firstladytree 3 points

RD:
Actually, an atom of hydrogen "lives" about 1035 years. What changes is its 'Calibration' in time. This happens at the sub-atomic level. Thus, the "Hydrogen Line" message within the WoW signal is of critical importance to your species actually communicating in real time, rather than being limited within the spectrum of radio waves. The spin characteristics of sub-atomic particles react and respond to each other instantaneously and are not bound to general relativity. You humans have elevated that work to some sort of a holy writ. Time to take a step back and take a break from trying to shove that square peg into the round hole and figure out how to use that square peg as a DOOR STOP. That hint alone would be worth a king's ransom to a primate species with discernment.

I like to think of the energy expressed in photons as being representative as different types of "dancers."
Radio waves are like photons doing the fandango.

Microwaves are like photons and atoms doing the tango.
Gamma waves are like a slam dancer in a molecular mosh pit.*

[–] shyeejanut 4 points

And gravity waves map entire worlds...
I am looking forward to the eighteenth, Jodoh. Please present our vision in a manner befitting the significance of that holy day. We seek neither to offend nor to frighten—only to reach a mutual understanding where both parties benefit. I am reaching out to you publicly only to encourage your unique outspokenness in this regard and to demonstrate how pleased we are with your admirable commitment to our resolve.

[–] Rufustar 1 points

...what helps me notice that Your commitment is credible despite the impression humanity could make thanks to its seemingly irredeemable shortsightendness. Humans. There is more to them than meets the eye... or than meets the profit.

[–] PrinceWizdom 2 points

Yom Kippur or "the day of atonement". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_Kippur

Fascinating. "Reach a mutual understanding where both parties benefit", seems like prophecy is still taken seriously among the Ba'alaket. It amazes me the amount of symbology that you put into every single thing you do...

[–] explorer1357 1 points

Exactly!! The amount of symbolism prevalent in their way of communicating is mind boggling...unfortunately for my meh brain...

[–] ACuriousHumanBeing 1 points

Who exactly is atoning though?

[–] garbotalk 1 points

They are. They are a part of the Consortium that has dropped contagions on us and now seeks to chip us and overwrite us.

Here is the mapping of Venus by your Ba'alaket sisters via gravity waves.

[–] DankNethers 5 points

Interesting question...

Seaweed already 'speaks' to seaweed on other worlds. Perhaps this is a means of accessing that connection

When zinc is introduced to sulfuric acid, the corresponding reaction produces zinc sulfite (used today to treat zinc deficiency) and releases hydrogen as a byproduct

Perhaps a 'stone' bonded with zinc and sulfuric acid (both found, incidentally, in garlic) would, in the right conditions, bind it's zinc and sulfur atoms to those in the desmarestia, and the energy of the stone would facilitate entanglement via the released hydrogen

And thus through the stone we might 'view' other worlds through the 'light' of the stone

[–] Firstladytree 2 points

Well done!

[–] wraith_tm8 1 points

Hmmm... Mercury is to Gold. As Zinc is to Hydrogen?

[–] DankNethers 2 points

Wikipedia's article on edible seaweed includes a list, and it cautions against eating most freshwater species

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edible_seaweed

[–] reptiliandude Reptilian 3 points

Needs photos on the link I posted.

[–] DankNethers 1 points

I understand the instruction

The list I posted was input to the "edible", not "inedible", bit

[–] explorer1357 2 points

COME ON GUYS ITS NOT THAT HARD GET LIKE 2 OR 3 PICTURES FROM GOOGLE AND FREAKING UPLOAD IT TO THE LINK HE PROVIDED.

IM BLOCKED FROM WIKI... BUT CAN WE DO IT SO WE CAN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ASSIGNMENT?

[–] Firstladytree 4 points

Deep breaths

[–] explorer1357 1 points

Lol

[–] ACuriousHumanBeing 1 points

Now if only I had scuba gear, diving, and an ability to take images and post them publicly.

Yikes, the best we can get so often are old hand drawn pages with just one figure. Not to downplay the figures, but to showcase that we need more to make a flourishing currency.

Anyone have more photos?

[–] Firstladytree 1 points

http://seaweedalchemy.com/CONTACT.html

[–] LampsPlus1 1 points

Hello, I am late to the party.

Not sure if the assignment was completed but I have question: On the Wikipedia Desmarestia page there is only one photo. On the Desmarestia viridis page there are many photos. Are you still wanting more photos posted on the Desmarestia Wikipedia page?

Thanks.

[–] reptiliandude Reptilian 2 points

Use your own judgment.
It’s a pity here is only one photo on the other.

[–] LampsPlus1 1 points

Okay. Got it.

[–] exicleus 1 points

The Wikipedia Desmarestia page gives one example of a Desmarestia pulled from viridis. Like an encyclopedia with crossroads to see more on the specific subject.

The problem I ran into is that all photos taken and uploaded are protected on the internet by inherit authorship. There is a full legal system. Believe it wikipedia is super anal about what gets uploaded. I got two strikes on my account for failing to show that photos were waived of all rights. They deleted the photos and scrubbed Desmarestia pages.

I went through a bunch of University biology projects to find specific right stricken photos. Even had to go into the JP domain to get photos from 1900s documents since they know their seaweeds and old docs are before copyright laws.

[–] LampsPlus1 1 points

I just made all these changes on the page, including adding four more images, which they offered on the insert page and everything I published in now scrubbed. I will try the rest of the week to see if I can do this. I made an account but have never tried to edit anything on Wiki before now. How frustrating.

[–] exicleus 1 points

The coding is not bad at all. Basic HTML and pseudo formatting languages. They also have a format standard which I tried to fill in the basics somewhat but if it is deemed not enough the admins will "clean" wipe it. Bureaucratically file for delete.

The pain is all the legalities leaving little room to work with photos. If we had people going out and taking photos for the wiki, rights free, that would be awesome.

If anyone reads this and you happen to be by water, with these kinds of seaweed and have a camera, it would really help to share photos. We can upload them and code monkey the wiki.

http://tryseaveg.com/healthiest-vegetables-sea-vegetables/

Sea vegetables can count the following among its many health benefits:

-Preventing aging and chronic disease.

-Lowering cholesterol.

-Solving mineral deficiencies.

-Detoxifying the body from heavy metals, environmental pollutants and carcinogens.

-Helping control the growth of pathogenic viruses, candida, and pathogenic bacteria.

-Balancing thyroid function.

-Fighting constipation.

What struck me here is this: Detoxifying the body from heavy metals, environmental pollutants and carcinogens

This is from Garbotalk:
“Reptiliandude recommends that we don't wear metal because alien defenses include an umbrella field that melts metals that cross it, even fillings in teeth. (The force field ends near their feet, so aim at their heels like the Trojans did against Achillies.) He recommends wood, volcanic glass and stone weapons (like David used against Goliath) and also ceramic bullets.”

So my question is this:

Do I have metal in my body? And will eating certain seaweeds help me rid my body of these metals? And help keep me safe from basically blowing up?

Spontaneous human combustion (SHC)?

[–] ACuriousHumanBeing 1 points

Does anyone have image sources for publicly usable images of various types of seaweed. Most of them are copy written.
