I think I can see where you’re coming from with “misused” but may not entirely agree. Also, I wonder if the creator(s) had the intentions of mass adoption for crypto currency. With that in mind, I’m sure at one point or another they had to assume large corporations would want in. I’d say just like most startups or indie bands, they have big things in mind and may even hope to “sell out”.

In regards to crypto currencies like BTC, I believe they can be traded without an exchange and have been since before major exchanges dominated the market. For example, when BTC was first adopted on the darknet markets the main way to turn your BTC back into cash was use a service called “localbitcoins.com” which connected buyers and sellers (like a Craigslist). The main thing to remember when using this service was to ensure you know how to properly validate the currency being exchanged.

I think I may know the answer to 1 of your questions, but the rest are a little beyond me.... in response to your question “why governments need to step in when new tech is promising ?” :

I believe the reason oligarchies (and even some times monopolies) are put into place from the jump is purely for operational/ease of use benefits from a macro view. I think if a new tech concept was so much more beneficial or efficient than an existing one... to the point where’s it’s going to replace industries overnight is for ease of use and structure. For example, could you imagine a nation (or even region) where water or power was ran through multiple different small/private companies? I think we’d have huge integration and compatibility issues; like different standard water pipe sizes or different amp outputs as well as home outlets (ie Europe uses 240 and USA uses 240). We’d have multiple different adapters, converters, pricing/rates, takeovers, and so on... IMO this could cause even more issues (especially safety issues) than we deal with today when dealing with different cell phone providers (and some say they’re all in bed with each other). My point is, I see the benefit or need for oligarchies for some aspects of technology. Especially those which benefit/connect the entire globe/species.

Lmk what you think 🤔
