To convince someone with the available means to accomplish the task of responding to the beacon, one would most assuredly require incontrovertible proof that what has been said, is true. I am not sure that will be allowed, from the sound of it... I certainly do not know who lurks here, nor what their means are, but such an insurmountable objective of a most worthy cause seems more appropriately deserving of divine intervention than most anything we could imagine.

What value of "means" must be acquired to be able to produce a response for said Beacon? Is the $1bn per year LHC necessary, or can John Doe build the apparatus in his garage? Do we even need technology to do it?

I think lots of people truly are ready, if an introduction can come about the right way. Most all people I know who I would consider intelligent, all believe we aren't alone. If done with care, tact, and compassion, I think it could work
