death threats result in the cowardly removal of Mohammedan cartoons

And the occasional newsroom machine-gunning if said cartoons are not removed.

You're right about those more docile institutions, and the compliant flocks they try to breed these days. I worry that docility may become a drawback in the future - while we breed sheep, they breed warriors. Still, an army of lions led by sheep will fall to an army of sheep led by a lion... I think that's how that saying goes.

Wear your death threats as a badge of honor! In the world of journos, we collect them, like trading cards.

Ahh, thank you for the link. From the posts immediately apparent, I see you follow the Goode iteration of this story? I also take it that you're here because you've noticed the similarities between that story, and this place? Why DO they tell it in so many different-yet-similar iterations, from so many different voices?

Probably the same reason why there's a Torah, a Bible and a Quran... our history is replete with many intelligent folks who sought to be "prophets" ;)

Well, then, impress us. What aspect of ufology should we be paying attention to, that we aren't? I love a good rabbit hole.

Yeah, probably. Still, entertain the possibility that it isn't. It'll give your thinkmeat a workout.

Why are there so many voices out there, telling variations of this story?

That's not what I found interesting about that email. It's the reference to multiple "cosmic resets."

Again, I am struck by that inescapable feeling that I've read this story before, but in a different format, told by another author.

Hmmmmmmmm...

Hmm. :)

Have these in my garden.

So, let's talk shop. Shyeejanut, RD; which of humanity's fusion experiments would you say is the likeliest path to answering the Beacon?

I neglected to mention mass surveillance in that rant. We're all living with it, and it is, in effect, "chipping."

If you wish to see those gears turning again... look at a man and his dog instead. I may have a selfish request on this topic, if you wish to hear it.

In our defense, they're great in tunnels.

The more clever a species is, the more it desires to fuck with lesser species to shape them in funny ways.

Don't forget "cruel outside design."

Used them to fertilize fields, then overrun those without horses, then as engines for a while, and nowadays... they're horses.

All I want is a space truck so I can sniff it for myself, any time I wanna.

I'd bet on at least a few ant farms.

No no. Venus is the fixer-upper. Our dirtball is the farm. Oh yeah, and we're the cows. Moo.

Hmmm.

I get ya.

Why is the 100th comment significant?

Ants.

It's important to be truthful, your actual thoughts

If ever I had a talent, it's this. I shall endeavor not to disappoint.

Doctor... posts in /r/stocks... wants to bang an alien. Prior psychology field experience.

Sorry. Instinct. Had to look. :p

Conventional human belief is that we're an apex species. Alternate beliefs form the basis of some of our best horror movies.

I will try my best to keep an open mind. ;)

Nah. Not intel, not LEO, not army. Just a guy who reads about those fields a lot, and writes about them from time to time.

Journo.

Well... journo/writer/author, to be more exact.

Saw Repto posting somewhere unrelated, found it insightful, kept reading. I'm one of those weirdos who really digs into people's post histories. Trade habit.

New ways of thinking. My first instinct upon coming here was... adversarial. I will try my best to keep a more open mind.

Even though I remain horrifically skeptical.

I think new worlds is why we're all here ;)

Fully aware that my initial arrival in this community was less than optimal, I'll try not to fuck things up. Thought about catching a honeybee, decided against it as we've got far too few as is, and I'm not sure I could summon tears on command. Probably best if I just sit back and listen, for the most part... never been too talented at that whole diplomacy thing.

Still. Not often you get to say "hi" to dragons.

Do take care when in Tel Aviv airspace; that part of the world is primed for all sorts of excitement.

Hey is this related in any way to my question/short story?

Tangentially. Found it after looking into this Val Valiant Thor thing.

Or is this something of similar peculiarness that you'd think I'd like to look into it?

It's probably not related to this sub, just a bit of weird conspiracy fun reading.

What's important about the 108th comment?

Now there's a fun rabbit hole to go down...

RemoteWrathEmitter here. I forget what other usernames I might have used in here. Hi again, Garbo, Repto, and assembled apostles. Knew I should check in here... somehow.

Curiously, I'm the one who first memed the solar observatory shutdown into public consciousness, via 4chan. Funny way for our strands to intertwine once more, isn't it?
