I know in my heart that humanity would choose goodness (and does every day) were we to have been influenced towards God rather than tempted to sin. I'm aware that the free will aspect could have been compromised, but I'd argue that it already was whenever we've been systematically encouraged to sin.

Humanity, with some exceptions, can generally recognize a certain level of sentience in various animals- we agree that some species are "off-limits".

Imagine some guy in the big 2026 just systematically tricking "off-limits" animals, recording them killing themselves or harming one another under artificial conditions, in an effort to convince the general public that they are no longer worthy of recognition.

Such are the efforts of aliens who have encouraged us to embody "product" and continue to obfuscate our efforts that would clearly lead to the proliferation of liberating technology.

One can extrapolate any number of truths about the universe through observation on Earth, perhaps none moreso apt than the perpetual ineptitude of government.
