Have you ever tried plugging in a USB cable once, didn’t work, flipped the cable over, and flipped it again? At this point, if you didn’t know anything about USB cables, the rational thing to do is quit trying to plug it in because you just proved that it doesn’t fit. But because you know better, you keep trying to get the damn thing to fit because you know it was designed to fit.
What I’m getting at is yes, things that are discussed in this subreddit have not been proven, but great utility comes from knowing where the answer lies to look.
One things you may have missed was the day RD told us to watch for falling rocks in a discussion about North Korea. This was a very unusual tidbit, as it is very rare RD gives us outright predictions of short term events. Less than 24 hours later, there was an earthquake in North Korea and their nuclear test facilities were crushed in a landslide. Now, that in itself doesn’t prove that RD is who he says he is. But it does tell us that he has access to information that any old troll wouldn’t.

Man you always have a lot to say, not that we're complaining!
I once had a class where I was shown a map of North America during the Pleistocene era. The coast of the southeast US really extended out there, in some places hundreds of miles further out than it does today. those maps are really cool. Here's a page with a map if anyone's interested: https://imnh.iri.isu.edu/digitalatlas/geog/native/text/history.htm
Anyways, I always think of that when you talk about drowned civilizations.
At a different time, I had a class once where the professor argued that we do not need cash at all, and everything could be purchased using our smartphones and credit card. That irked me. Do we really want to live in a world where uncle Sam charges you for Venmo-ing money to your nephew for his birthday? Do we really want to live in a world where Amazon wipes out your savings because you walked into it's brick and mortar store and the AI checkout "glitched" and charged you for a billion cans of peas when you actually only grabbed one? Not that these things can't already happen, but there should be a fail safe in case the banking system fails and that fail safe is other forms of currency that are more hardy and not governed by a central body.
Anyways, appreciate the info, as always.

I came across this document on the CIA's website about an experiment where a clairvoyant tells about a dying race on Mars 1 million years ago. The experiment is interesting in that they give the clairvoyant a time and place inside a sealed envelope, and the clairvoyant has to tell about the events at that setting without opening the envelope. So at the time, he didn't know that he was talking about Mars, but I digress.
https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP96-00788R001900760001-9.pdf
Could you tell us what happened to that race on Mars? Was Mars a green planet with billions of years of evolved life like Earth, or was it a work in progress from this race that failed?
Didn't you say that the moon was used by C's race to inject Mass into the Earth 1 million years ago to break the ice age?
If so, maybe this restoration of Earth was to give this race on Mars a new home as well as Life on Earth a new chance.
Please feel free to correct me if I'm getting any of this wrong.

If you don't mind me asking, what would the pros and cons be if everyone had this same power that you have? Would speech as we know it go extinct? Does speech have any significant advantages over this telepathic communication?
In the story about the tower of babel, God took away our power to communicate with each-other because we were too unified, too effective per se, and that decreased our dependency, our need, of God. Makes me think that our old form of communication was superior, though maybe the forcing of us to use speech instead of telepathy was a blessing in disguise?

I can't help but think that if our lives were shortened, so were the lives of other primates like us. It may even be possible that whatever shortened our lives also shortened the lives of many other creatures on Earth. Are the telomere's that cap our chromosomes somehow actively induced to shorten, or was this reprogrammed into our DNA long ago?

Hey, I found something:
https://youtu.be/G9-N-nIqc4g
In this video, he drives one axle fast with a drill and the other axle turns slowly. If this would be implemented on this flywheel bike, the driven axle would be opposite as in this video. The funny thing is, this “cvt” could be implemented using levers as peddles due to the ratcheting mechanism. Also, the whole thing looks like a block and tackle!
Brotato_Potatonator commented on Ok, now it’s my turn for some questions... reddit
So this simple but revolutionary thing is a test?
Or is it for exposure? I guess a bunch of people will become aware of this subreddit if people become aware that this cool new bike idea was “born” here.
Brotato_Potatonator commented on Ok, now it’s my turn for some questions... reddit
I’m not sure what I did but I’ll take it! 😊
Brotato_Potatonator commented on Ok, now it’s my turn for some questions... reddit
Man, I need some of that enthusiasm! Have any ideas on that block and tackle drive? I’m thinking the large distance covered by the legs “pedaling” the levers can translate into a small distance of belt pulling on the flywheel at a crazy drive ratio of 20 or 40:1. I don’t know. Gotta figure it out
Brotato_Potatonator commented on Ok, now it’s my turn for some questions... reddit
Yeah, the transmission will need to be worked out. From RD’s description, it seems the power flow goes from leg levers —> block and tackle thing —> flywheel —> pulley transmission —> wheel. I guess this means you have to wind up the flywheel for a little bit when you first hop on the bike before you take off, though if you wanted to be really fancy you could design a way to bypass the flywheel when the user first starts pedaling.
I’m still not sure how to get the block and tackle to wind up the flywheel to huge rpm’s. Like, it could be done if you use enough mechanical advantage, but how do you adjust the drive ratio when you first start pedaling so that you don’t spend forever winding up the thing?
Brotato_Potatonator commented on Ok, now it’s my turn for some questions... reddit
Wow, a steam engine. Were they popular at that time, or did you grandfather like to tinker/design such things?
I like the focus on using only the body for transportation. It’s elegant and upholds a certain self-reliance. Sometimes I like to think about making a bicycle trailer like the one Paul Elkins made and travel across the US in it.
https://youtu.be/ZiejAhol4Ps
There’s also the East Coast Greenway, which would be a great way to travel the coast, but there’s a lot of trouble completing it and making it continuous.
https://www.greenway.org
Anyway, bicycles are cool and I do remember some popular mechanics article in the past critiquing bicycles by saying their form factor doesn’t allow good power transfer from the body. I can see how levers really might be the way to go on this to allow a more natural pumping action.
Brotato_Potatonator commented on Ok, now it’s my turn for some questions... reddit
Sure, just have to develop a drive capable of larger speed ratios.
Brotato_Potatonator commented on Ok, now it’s my turn for some questions... reddit
Is an interesting suggestion. I guess it sounds a bit heavy at first thought.
The key would be using a flywheel that has almost all of its mass towards the outer portion of the wheel. Since this is a bike, I can't imagine using a flywheel that has a mass more than, I don't know, 2-5 kilograms?
To maximize the radius of the flywheel, it could be placed inside the rear wheel of the bike.
Assuming the flywheel is a thin disk, 25cm in radius, and 5 kg in mass, we can calculate the mass moment of inertia I:
I = mass * radius^2 -->
I = 5 * .25^2 = .3125 kg*m^2
Now, it looks like the average bicycle rider can sustain 100 watts. It would be great if we could get 300 watts for 10 seconds out of this flywheel, which would be 300 J/s * 10s = 3000 Joules of energy.
The formula for rotational energy is E = 1/2 * I * w^2, with w being in radians/sec.
Solving, we would need the flywheel to spin at 138.6 radians/sec, or 1323 rpm to contain 3000 Joules of energy.
This is assuming we have a CVT system that can smoothly transfer and extract energy out of this flywheel as you are riding.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuously_variable_transmission
Lastly, assuming the cyclist pedals at a comfortable 65 rpm, the CVT would have to have to be capable of a 20.4:1 "gear" ratio to achieve 1323 RPM.
In comparison, the highest gear ratio on a typical bike is 4:1.
If you had two sets of 4.5:1 "gears" on your CVT, you could get a ratio of 20.25:1, which is pretty good.
Brotato_Potatonator commented on Ok, now it’s my turn for some questions... reddit
I'll play info-bot for those interested. The cone-like pulleys are often called CVT's. They are relatively new in automobiles but they have the advantage that you avoid the "stepping" of gear changes and can "sweep" the drive ratios to drive at the desired speed while still allowing the engine to turn at it's most efficient speed.
Here's a simple CVT: https://goo.gl/images/4xgFtD

Water seems to "contain" EM signals that it is subject to.
The next question is, does this info relate to the beacon? RD dude says hydrogen dances with its brothers, and water is mostly hydrogen. He also alludes to cups of water resonating with each other.
Let's imagine an experiment:
Imagine we took a sample of pure water that's been sitting in the sunlight. Then, we divide that sample into two separate samples. Then, one sample is subjected to a pulse, while the other sample is in another room sitting on top of a "microphone" of sorts. Would we hear this other sample pulse as if it's somehow tied to the first sample through some spooky action?
If anything comes out of this experiment, imagine if we collected the light emitted from the Chi Sagittarii star group.

Yeah, I forgot about that part. Though didn't Glycon mention that all hydrogen born of the same star "dances" with its siblings? I guess I'm challenging the notion of physically aiming a signal vs feeding information into the "dance" and then using it like a computer network. Maybe the "bumping" of the hydrogen needs a direction so that the hydrogen on the other side "bumps" back?
That might make some sense in the context of "aiming" a signal.
Brotato_Potatonator commented on The Wow signal reddit
I wonder if there's any quantum numbers of hydrogen that have yet to be discovered that would help us out with the beacon. I also wonder if communicating with hydrogen is a little like the internet. From what I know, when a computer sends out a packet of information on a network, all of the computers on the networks see the message. The way a computer knows if the message is intended for that computer is by reading the IP address in the message and then comparing it to its own address. If the addresses match, the computer deciphers the rest of the message and so on...
So here are some questions:
Can hydrogen atoms be configured to have their own addresses, or are they responding to all other hydrogen atoms in the universe at once?
Can the quantum numbers of hydrogen be manipulated to act as an address? Maybe the relative spins of the protons and electrons of the atom are a way of choosing what "network" they communicate on.
Lastly, does reading information from the hydrogen atom destroy or affect the ability of the hydrogen atom to communicate with its brothers? Wouldn't it be cool if we had a device for "poking" hydrogen in various ways, and a different device that could monitor some hydrogen? Then, we could "poke" the hydrogen atom #1 and then monitor hydrogen atom #2 to see if there is any correlation between their behaviors.
I don't expect anyone to have definitive answers. I'm just rambling here to get some ideas out there.

Brotato_Potatonator commented on Put your questions here so Reptiliandude can find them! reddit
C'mon, throw me a bone here!
I've read that the permittivity of free space was derived from the force acting on two parallel wires carrying current. I haven't come across any experiments testing the assumption that this constant can't be manipulated.
I've been thinking about an experiment: accelerate a charged capacitor while measuring the voltage across it. If the permittivity of free space changes under acceleration, you should be able to see a difference in capacitance via the measured voltage. I'm making a few assumptions, such that acceleration is the same as gravity, that gravity either changes or is the product of distortions in electromagnetic properties of free space, and that extreme acceleration is needed-because if the effect was too obvious, someone would have measured it before.
Any thoughts?

Brotato_Potatonator commented on Mental Abilities and Communication reddit
There's one other thing that comes to mind when I think of capacitors...they are great for "tuning", or attenuating unwanted frequencies out of a signal. Usually this is done with an array of capacitors, as each one attenuates a band of unwanted frequencies out of a signal. Many variations of capacitors can be used to produce the desired filter...
This is possible because different capacitors charge and discharge at different rates. If your capacitor is across your signal, and If your capacitor charges and discharges much faster than the rate of change of your signal, then the capacitor does not affect your sinusoidal signal much. But, if your capacitor charges or discharges much slower than your signal, your signal is shorted. Due to the nature of waveforms, ANY predictable waveform is equivalent to a multitude of "added" sinusoidal signals. If you short out some unwanted sinusoids but leave others, you have filtering.
Edit: I would like to add a little background: Sometimes, usually when napping, I experience a semiconscious state where I hear lots of static, and a lot of voices, as if I'm at a convention and people are talking among themselves. On other occasions, a voice among the crowd will be directed at me. I'm wondering if this transition between being awake and sleeping is a sort of "tuning", or maybe I'm experiencing a different phenomena :p
