Even if my car is designed to fail after x miles, proper care will prevent it. You just have to identify the types of damage that occurs and repair it as it arises. You don't wait till your car breaks down to care for it.

Living forever would allow you more time to reduce others suffering. Or hypothetically serve the one.

Honestly the idea of Gene editing is complex. Especially all the intersections that occur in metabolism.

The best way imo is the gerontology approach where you do maintenance as damage occurs. Dr Aubrey De Gray has done a ton of research in this area.

An analagy is not waiting till you get sick or break down to treat, but repair problems as they happen.

A thing to consider is we could potentially game theory ourselves to a better position. Even if our discussions are open, it all depends on what that map tells us.

Based on other postings I am lead to wondering if this type of communication can be done, with low power and non-exotic technology. Especially when we can replicate quantum effects at the macro scale. Another thing to consider is whether quantum or bohmian mechanics is correct. If this type of communication is possible than that could help us figure out which of the two is correct.

Both explanations would be ideal if you could provide them.

What were your sociological imperatives as you developed? and what are they now today?

Are you aware of other races that use signed languages? If yes how do they compare to the variety of signed languages on Earth?

Also since bilingualism is more common than being bimodal on Earth, are there other races that have a wider variety of modes language wise?

If yes how much of these race's people take advantage of these other modes of communication?
