Well, my impression of what the Naigaje hands are like, based upon various descriptions RD has splattered here and there, are that they are very muscular, dexterous and large. The Naigaje are excellent climbers, and the claws are used as grips as much as for hunting, I believe.

He has constantly referred to them as “Griffenesque” which, when you look at artistic renderings/statues of Griffen’s the feet/hands have a much larger proportion to the rest of the body than what we are accustomed to. It makes me think that the forearm muscles are also quite strong and developed as well, since they are directly tied to grip strength.

I guess would make them somewhat awkward piano players, though.

The drawing that Tacocat posted of how the claws retract was rather interesting.

Here is an updated version of what I think it looks like:

Naigaje-- Good for combat, catching fish, and running quickly. We are good with dexterity and precision-- delicate surgery, writing letters, notes are all easier for us.

RD talks about the differences in hands very often.

He really enjoys tinkering with things here on Earth using his Human hands. He’s always working on cars. It’s not just the large hands that makes this impossible on his world but also the fact that they don’t use gas engines.

He said we would laugh if we saw inside their “space ships” bc all the buttons and knobs are huge!

He told me a story once about how they play instruments and it painted the most amazing mental picture for me.

If you were at a concert on his planet, you would see the musicians sitting in a chair on stage, bc they play with their hands and feet at the same time!
