When Texas went black for four days, I could not stop reading the user comments under the ERCOT youtube video. Lots of these comments were written after only 8 hours of no power and people were panicking. I was shocked! Most acted like their lives were completely over bc they had not had power for only a few hours.

One woman said “I am a caretaker and have meds in my fridge. I don’t have power and the meds will spoil. What do you expect me to do about this”

And someone replied ..”put the meds outside since it’s so cold, they will be fine” and then the woman said “oh, wow! I had not even considered doing that! Thank you so much!”

I wish I could have seen my own face while reading this. People seem to lose their common sense when they are in a state of panic. Pre planning and being prepared could lessen that state of panic and allow you to regain some common sense. Just saying!
